Beautiful Winter Morning

Got up before everyone this morning just to have some alone time.  After so many frosty, rainy, foggy, misty days it's dawned a little clearer and sunny and not quite so cold.  It's lovely living up here, just a better feel to it.  Something happened with the heating control and I reset it and now it's in Fahrenheit temperature.  Weird that I grew up with that, we didn't change to metric till I was a teen from memory but I still can't get my head around it.  It's warm, that's what matters.
Funny how life can seem so hard and difficult one minute then everything seems to be okay the next.  Is it attitude or being pro-active or a bit of both?
Lots to look forward to, getting Emily back to school or TAFE and onto a mental health plan, we found out we are entitled to six sessions with a counsellor or psychologist, we have to talk to the doctor about that today, if we can get in.
I booked two nights in a hotel in Parramatta for the weekend, it has an indoor heated pool and spa etc so that will be fun.  The three of us will be in one room but that's okay, it's a spiffy hotel and we won't be there much anyway.  The family picnic is on Saturday and most of us will be there, except my oldest great niece which is a pity, I haven't seen her for a few years, since Mum's 80th I think.
Ha, Max has the right idea, he dragged his mattress (not the heated one!) out into the middle of the yard in the sun.
I talked to my sister last night and she implored me to either write to or phone our mother, as Mum has been hassling Julie as to why I don't want to talk to her.  It's pointless telling Mum the truth as she won't take it on board but I will ring her today and tell her that I've been very distracted with all the problems with Em, and moving and Kate being here etc, and I will also say I felt she was very insensitive when Josh and I fled to her place in January.  It will be like water off a duck's back but at least I'll feel better having said it.
And Ali, Matt and Harvey arrive tomorrow for their flying visit.  I thought we'd bbq but Phill won't be here so I might just do a roast or lasagne.  Can't wait to see little Harvey, he's 21 months old now, and my firstborn Ali will turn 32 on Sunday.  I'm not old enough to have a 32 year old!
Kids must both be having growth spurts, I did panko chicken strips last night and fried rice and they scoffed the lot!  Managed to put broccoli in the egg for the crumbing mix, along with garlic and parmesan, and also a bit in the rice so I was happy.  I mentioned while we were eating (they know I put puree vegies in their food anyway) that there was broccoli in both the chicken and rice and as one they both did a mock "blech", funny little buggers they are.
Finally got Emily's woollen underlay for her king single bed yesterday, it's a magnetic one which is supposed to promote better sleep (my one was worked wonders for the arthritis in my knees) and I went in to get something and she's sleeping like a baby.  I felt like crawling in there with her.

I stumbled over here from Yellowdog Granny's place. I love your blog. I very quickly read the recent three. Sounds and looks like a beautiful place you live in, with a very loving family. I hope to come back when I have more time, and comment more intelligently :-)
