Sick Boy and Wheels at Last!

Josh came home at lunchtime yesterday as planned, with a sore throat.  He gets this a bit too frequently like Kate used to, she ended up having her tonsils out aged 11.  He had a high temperature and as he won't swallow pills I crushed up a painkiller and mixed it in honey and got it into him.  He felt a bit better and I ran him a bath but later he started throwing up and as I cleaned that up so did I.  We had a very bad night on the couches until I finally crawled into bed and he came in later delerious babbling about a thumb drive or something so I guided him to his room and got him into bed.  Poor little thing, we slept late so couldn't get a doctor appointment today but he's getting better slowly, weirdly his throat isn't hurting but he still has a bit of a temperature.  I felt a bit queasy all morning but rallied a bit this afternoon and showered and dressed and went down a rented a car.  So sick of not having one.  I can't believe how easy it is to rent a car.  Anyway it's a spiffy little Toyota Corolla and Em and I drove to IGA and got some groceries.  But now Phill is coming home late tonight so I probably didn't really need it but I'll keep it till Saturday anyway.  Harley the cat has been missing for several days but I wasn't overly worried as she's done it before.  But when I went to put the hire car away in the garage she was in there!  The last time I had that opened was the day I got the wood delivered, Saturday I think it was, and I didn't notice her go in there.  She looked fine and not poorly at all and although she ate some dry food and then some tinned she wasn't ravenous or thirsty at all.  There must be a hole that I can't see where she is getting in, she was up on top of a cupboard on some shopping bags where she likes to sleep.  She's pregnant yet again.  Kitten anyone?  Hope none of them are dead this time around.
Phill got knocked back for a house today and I said perhaps it's time to just pull the pin as it seems like it's just not meant to be.  They said it was because of the dog.  Max never comes inside and is a very good little fellow, hardly barks etc but I can understand landlords not wanting dogs as some dog owners can really make a mess of houses if they're irresponsible.
Bought Katy's train ticket today so she will be home by lunchtime on Saturday and I can't wait.
It's such a relief that I am on good terms with all of my kids now.  I had a long conversation with my second daughter Mandy yesterday.  We had been estranged for several years till she turned up at the family lunch in Sydney.  She is finally moving out of Hugh Jarse's (evil stepmother) and into a house near where little Jake's dad lives.  Now we can resume our relationship.  Her horrible stepsister threatened to report her to DOCS (she's crazy) and I think this is the catalyst for her to finally break her ties with those people.  Her father hasn't lived with his wife for a couple of years now and hopefully all three of the kids can get rid of these low class idiots for good.  Ali and Matt are seriously considering moving to Queensland partly because of them.  If we do end up living up north we'll be closer to them there.
But for now I'm just looking forward to having my girl home again.
The last thing I felt like doing this morning was thinking about food but I had a piece of beef out thawing overnight for a pot roast and I had to use it.
So I browned it on the stove then peeled and cut a potato in half, same with a couple of carrots and some celery, and cut up an onion and two cloves of garlic and some fresh thyme and a cup of beef stock.
I need to clean this house tomorrow but I might go for a drive in my new car and get Phill some birthday presents, he turns 52 on Saturday and he might even be home for some of it this year.  The last two birthdays he's been away, including his 50th.
