Counselling yesterday was okay. I went alone. It amuses me when my history is taken by these people, the reaction they have as if I've lived some awful tragic and complicated life. I have had some tragedy in my life, but it's just my life and I feel I have been mostly blessed in it. The counsellor seemed level headed and had some interesting insights into the stuff with Emily and my own input into it all. Next week Emily will go with me.
I enjoyed the drive by myself, I have to have time alone or I can't function well. I did a bit of shopping in Wagga, got some things we can't get here, bought cosy pjs for all of us as the weather has turned cool at night and in the early mornings. Got Harvey a very belated birthday present and some other bits and pieces.
Bit of drama last night when Kim turned up in tears saying (not to me or Phill but to Emily) that her father had beaten her. Em claims she has a black eye but I saw no evidence of it. If I saw any obvious injuries or if she had come to us herself and told us I would have taken action, but these girls lie as easily as they breathe and I am not getting involved in this one. Apparently other family members saw it happen and did nothing. I find that hard to believe. Phill ended up driving her to her grandmother's and the father turned up at the door, which I didn't open as I was here on my own with Josh, mildly threatening, but I think he thought my voice was Emily. When I called him by name he calmed down and went away. We have enough drama in our own family we don't need anyone else's.
No car today and the kids and I walked down and got a big much needed grocery order and got a cab home. They were a real help surprisingly. Hotch potch for dinner, I was going to make prawn omelette but I can't be bothered. Emily saw some fresh marinara mix and wanted it so I have a tomato sauce simmering on the stove, a bit of onion sauteed in olive oil and butter, with garlic and tomato paste, a bottle of passata, lots of freshly ground black pepper and some white wine. I'll add the seafood in at the last minute and we'll have it with linguine. I'm making fried rice as well with some prawns in it.
Talked to Katy on the phone again for a long time this afternoon, we are getting on so well now and have long talks like girlfriends. Well I don't have to actively parent her anymore and while I'll always be her mum, no reason why we can't be friends as well. I'm going to get her some kitchen bits and pieces for the new flat and pack them in on top of the dinner set we're sending over (that Grandma hand painted for her). She wants doylies the funny kid, so I'll get some from the op shop and Napisan and iron them. It's nice that I can still do things for her, as far away as she is.
The days are growing increasingly short, it's only 4.15pm and it's getting gloomy outside. Soon it will be time for the wood fire.

Happy rest of the weekend to you Trish. (((hugs)))
It's a nice relief when you don't have to parent them any more.
