Yep it's the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade. I love it, I'm watching it live on Fox and it's just great. Colourful, bright, funny, inspiring and just fun.
Why can't people just marry who they love? I don't get it. Gay marriage seems to be the undercurrent this year and rightly so.
Politicians, they aren't going away!!!!
I worked as secretary for the display department of Myer Sydney when I was about 18, most of our staff were gay and boy wasn't that an eye opening experience for this sheltered little girl. But I learned a lot from them and from the experience of working with them. Mostly that we're all just people but with different interests (and dress sense).
Phill left today and all is peaceful and ordered here once again. He threw one last mongrelfest before he left. Kids and I got in the car and left him to it. We drove up to Young and got Joshy the case for his DS, Em got a book (yay) and we went to Aldis, an alternate type supermarket here. Don't we get ourselves into shopping ruts? Hardly any brand we recognised there, but lots of stuff, it was like shopping in a different country. We got some things to try and they are certainly cheaper. It was fun, and different. Got the kids Maccas to eat on the trip home. Got home and just chilled, it was great. We ordered pizza, my kitchen is spotless!
All is right with my world tonight but I kinda wish I was in Oxford Street. ;)

I'm with you on gay marriage.
Prim and Proper Massachusetts was the first state to legalize gay marriage ( hip, hip, hooray !)
That same month and year my nephew that I am close to got married and I made his wedding cake. :0)

MEN!!!! Their mouth is their WORST ENEMY !!!!!
I just love that word "mongrelfest"
I'm with Middle Child - mongrelfest is a rockin word.
Look at those costumes! How fun!?! I love all things bright and glittery and sassy. I think in my next life I should be a 'Vegas show girl...
I really love the title of this blogpost.
So intriguing and so right.
Mardi Gras is such a celebration of diversity and where would we be without that.
