We decreed yesterday to be a "drama free day". Phill and Josh and I went down and got supplies for an early evening bbq. I had steaks in the freezer, and Josh wanted ribs so we found a big pack of those, marked down, and got some crusty bread and the doings for ice cream sundaes with Oreos. Spittin' Kim showed up, must have the hide of an elephant, with Emily's alleged boyfriend Luke. Oh dear. I went out where he was waiting on the front porch to introduce myself. Not overly impressed and I went back and asked Josh what he knew of him and Josh said he's horrible and a bully at school to Josh and his mates.
Phill MUST spend more time with Em and pay her some positive attention so she doesn't gravitate to these losers. But I will welcome them here as I'd rather she entertained them in our orbit rather than up in the ghetto where they live.
So we sat out the back and talked and bbqed and it was nice, but still fraught with all the tension of the recent crap. We are all just exhausted, even Phill. He's dragged himself off to work this morning, it's 3.30 am. I need to get in and clean this house today. Josh made his pancake batter last night so he will be cooking brekky. That boy is the jewel in my rusty crown. I talked to Katy and she sent me more pictures of her new apartment in Perth. I made a kick arse stock out of the leftover bbq chook. Took as much skin off as I could and put it on the stove with onion, celery, carrot, bay leaves, whole black pepper, and I made up a bouquet garni from the garden, thyme, oregano and flat leaf parsley tied with kitchen string. It smelled really good and later I'll skim off the fat and make soup from the stock.
Is curly parsley an annual? Mine has died off and I thought it might re-seed but it hasn't. I'm going to rip it out and put in a new plant.
The two new rockmelons are big but one looks like it won't make it. The tomato plants sprouting out of the compost bin are freakishly huge and threatening to take over the area around the bin. We're just leaving them and waiting to see what happens.

Your tomatoes should do well. Compost ones usually are stronger than the ones you plant yourself. You can move them to a better position though if you want to and they will still grow nicely. As for the parsley I have not grown that type but if you want them to reseed generally you need to let the middle leaf grow only cutting the outer edges. That way it will seed by itself. Well thats what I do with the Italian parsley anyway.
Hope you all have a happy Sunday. Its pouring down rain up here this morning and I have to take the boys down the coast to a friends house. Not looking forward to going out in it. It looks like a great day for curling up indoors. :-)
Big hugs xoxoxox
Wishing more Drama Free days for you.

"I made a kick arse stock out of the leftover bbq chook" I love it...and you are educating our Yankee mates as some don't know what a chook is...
