I was sitting up in bed using the laptop when the kitten jumped up with me and started burrowing in between the pillows. I thought he was just playing but he seemed very interested in something so I had a bit of a look and then continued with what I was doing. A little while later I felt something crawling on the back of my neck and as I reached around to grab it I felt a sting. I thought it was a clipper bug, they're everywhere, but as I flung it on the floor I saw it was a spider. At first glance I thought it was a black house spider. I went out and got Phill to have a look at the bite and then put the spider in a jar. Turns out it is one of these little beauties.
A spotted ground spider.
I think he only got me with one fang but it swelled up a bit, didn't hurt much though, put some Paraderm on it and let the spider go in the backyard. Hope he's okay. I am.
I actually used to work for a pest control company as a sales rep and the main part of our job was to man "Spider Stands" in shopping centres where we kept live spiders in perspex cages to shock the punters into buying pest control. Nice work if you can get it. Attracted a lot of weirdos though.
Next time I'll pay more attention to little Noah. He's resting comfortably.

OUCHIE !!!!
I usually don't kill spiders, I set them free.
In this instance I may have struck back. :0)
Ouch! Im glad you did not hold it against the spider and let him go! :-)
my motto is don't bite me and I won't kill you.
I do kill the white tailed ones if I can't capture them - skin necrosis is too scary to contemplate - but leave the rest alone - move them out...I have to do an outside spray and I am sorry - but I am on a flood plain with the house on a mound - when it rains every bit of living thing ascends the mound - sorry if I offend - but in some cases needs must - what a bite he has that spider
