Back to Myself and a Loong Day

Feeling totally like my old self again, so whether it's an hormonal cyclical thing or whether I just needed to take better care of myself and not overreact to stuff remains to be seen.  I managed to eat a light breakfast and a WHOLE sandwich for lunch, then fish and curly fries and salad for dinner which is a huge improvement on how I've been.

I decided to take Josh out of school for the day and take him to Wagga with us.  He is such a good boy and gets kind of pushed aside sometimes I feel with all the dramas with Emily.  We both needed haircuts badly and we had to get a few things that we can't get here.  Didn't Emily spit the dummy when she found out we were taking him with us!  She gets a day out of school every week, to sit in paradise and mess about with art and spend the day with a wonderful woman who thinks the world of her.  Josh gets up every day, knowing what's ahead, and goes to school without complaint.  She gets so much more attention sometimes simply because of her acting out and I feel sorry for him.  It wasn't much of a fun day as it turned out as we were pretty rushed, needing to get back here by 3 to pick up Em from Julie's.  But we got our haircuts and both feel better although I look like a poodle, the wet weather has turned my hair to tight curls, and we got some plants and a new pump for the fish tank.  Dropped Phill off at Wagga station to go to Melbourne for work for two nights and made the long, long drive home and then up to Stock to pick up Emily.  Then we had to do groceries and I was exhausted by the time we got home, but had a cup of tea and got the shopping unpacked, the plants potted, the animals fed, the washing on and drying, cooked dinner and put Max to bed.  So much more than I could have done a week ago and tired is nothing compared to how I was feeling then.  Just now got all the bills paid and am feeling happy and content and so relieved that I don't have to live with that despair and anxiety any more.  For now.  A lot of it with me too, is the self talk.  I can talk myself down so easily, but if I put my mind to it I can talk myself the other way as well.
Talked on the phone to my oldest sister last night who is having problems with her, wait for this, almost 40 year old daughter.  Do they ever stop giving us grief I wonder?  I was glad to be able to be a willing ear for her, she's done so much for me over the years.
Emily's African scene painting is finished and ready to be entered in the art exhibition.  It's great and the shark painting she did today is as good, although very different.  The African one is in the car, safer from the cats out there, but I'll take a photo of it tomorrow.  We will be very proud parents seeing her artwork on the walls of the town hall in a week or so.  What a gift this mentoring programme is for her.  She was so excited on the drive home this afternoon, saying she has all sorts of ideas for paintings.  We're thinking of converting the Wii room which lasted as long as the warm dry weather did, into a studio for her.  It has a light and power for heating and won't matter if she makes a bit of a mess down there, we can put in the old wooden table and she can keep all her art stuff down there.
Think I'll sleep well tonight, especially as I won't have to keep rolling my darling over every time he snores!

What a busy day you had...when you put it all together like that - it takes away your breath - I am really so pleased about Emily and art - I loved to draw and would spend hours doing this and painting (not much good at painting) if she loves art no matter what else she does it will stay with her for life - it kept me sane on the long nights after Don died - well sort of sane anyway.
