I did not want to stop blogging. I love blogging. The truth is that I had lost track of who had the url to the old blog and who was reading and why. When some unpleasant people starting making comments targetting my children I realised enough was enough. A new url won't necessarily stop these people finding this blog but it will make it a bit harder to do so, especially if, as I suspect, they aren't overly bright. I also doubt any of them have the good taste and good hearts to follow my favourite bloggers either.
Anyway so it's back to business as usual. There are new templates on Blogger now so I might muck around with those over the weekend and see how they work.
Phill came home last Sunday but will go away again on Tuesday or so. I'm used to it now, don't necessarily like it, but have accepted that this is the way it's going to be for now at least. It looks as though he is going to be promoted to trainer within his own company which will mean a wage rise and hopefully less time away and the main thing no more part time work for the freaking Mickey Mice!!!
Em has had two days at her mentor's. This woman seems so wonderful and has really taken Emily under her wing. She is planning to have Emily create a portfolio of her art, is entering her in the local art show and is going to show her the workings of the farm. I'm still being cautiously optimistic as we've been let down before, but my gut feeling is that this is going to be so great for Emily and will set her up for her future. We've bought her some art supplies, paints, canvasses, sketch pads and more and she has been busily drawing and painting and so has Josh. I love it. I would spend my last dollar on art equipment if it meant they were creating.
It's freezing here but we're happy and together and we savour that while we can.
So glad to be back. I need to go and put my favourite blogs back in and tweak some other stuff.
Katy has phoned twice in the last couple of days, not sure what's up with her. I think she should come home, not necessarily to us but to NSW and be near her family, her parents and start to MAKE something of her life at last. She sends mixed messages, she lies, and I reallly have no idea where she is at right now. My golden child, the one I thought I'd never have to worry about. Pfft.

yay!!
so glad Em is finding art fun. It does wonders!! This mentoring thing sounds wonderful - I wish I'd had a mentor. I love the pictures of the kittens. M-Lyons wants one but Tim says no.
I get the whole blogging thing.
I've thought a lot about changing.
I quit talking about the kids after a family member decided they were being abused (!) and called social services. Luckily it worked out fine but it was a difficult few months. But I didn't talk about it online as I use my own name (idiot I am) and Dragon has so many issues but I've had to vent elsewhere. Sad because in blogging one can find people who are encouraging- which is nice-but now I'm afraid-
They did what? Caillin that is horrible, and sad that you can't talk about the issues with the kids openly, thus getting the support that you need. We who are open and honest are a drop in the bucket re parenting, so sad for the many who can't, won't and are scared to, talk about what is really going on in their families.
For what it's worth, I hold you up as an inspiration, you're doing a great job.
